David Snow - 601st  Photo Squadron - Takhli RTAFB   - page two

Photographer Dave Snow, alongside a  "gift wrapped" F-105D - from the 354th TFS  - Takhli Thailand . The nose bra is to provide protection from sun and moisture for the plane's electronics.

Twenty-three year old Sgt. Dave Snow  inspecting the underside of a D model wing. Or maybe just sleeping. Takhli vets will recognize the Tropo site on the hill in the background.  A Comms unit on top of the mountain provided Takhli's communications with the outside world. Bright lights around the site were a  constant feature of the nighttime landscape.

A Takhli tradition -- the End of Tour parade. This lucky Colonel rates a five pooying honor guard. The EOT ritual followed a set routine, last flight,  a hosing down as the pilot leaves his aircraft, champagne on the flight line, a Sawadee Parade around the base to the O Club  where the shorttimer was then tossed in the pool.  Next inside the club's bar where drinks were on the guy about to leave for home. These are probably girls from the club - waitresses who became friends  over the course of a one-year tour.
