More Memory Joggers From Darryl Petersen

Darryl's photos of Takhli entertainment options as well as the Bob Hope show in Dec '66.  Bob made it to Takhli two years in a row, '66 & '67.

The Bob Hope show Christmas 1966, Bob the golfer.  Considering the number of bases in Vietnam versus the number in Thailand at this time, getting Bob Hope two years in a row was quite a coup.

The Korean Kittens - girls in the Bob Hope show.  Looks like they were dressed for the weather rather than modesty!

Goods in the "Thai BX".  This was the one place on base where we could buy locally produced articles.  The round yellow objects hanging on the wall are used in a Thai game similar to soccer.

A smiling young saleslady at the Thai BX.  Thailand is happy to be known as the "Land of a thousand smiles".

An early shot of the Base Theater.  It is difficult to see in this photo, but the sides could be opened as shutters when it was too hot.  Most of the time.  An bugs just loved the intense light being thrown on the screen.  So much so that a cloud of them would make interesting patterns in the movie as they buzzed back and forth.  If you were smart, you held your popcorn up to see if it had antenna.

Patti Page, a popular singer.  This slide is dated Jan '67, to give a frame of reference for the time period.
