Even More Memory Joggers From Art McAninch

Art has provided us with some photos that I thought I would never see again.  I had a great shot of our U-2 from the tower, but it and I went different ways.  These are definitely one of a kind photos, and so I have marked them for him, only fair.  Art shot these while working the ramp in the case of the U-2 and F-86s, and had notice of the incoming SR-71.  In capturing these in '66 and '67, Art did the impossible - photos of nonexistent planes at a nonexistent base - pretty darn hard to do!

Art has captured our U-2 coming in for a landing.  This truely was one of the most remarkable aircraft ever built.  Standing joke when they would come in for weather briefing was "what are the winds going to be like at 70,000 feet today over xxx?"  Standard answer was "I'll know when you tell me!"

And here we have probably THE most remarkable aircraft flown on a routine basis.  To the best of my knowledge this only came to Takhli once or twice during my tour.  I saw it on one occasion from downtown as it went over headed for the base, may have been this same time.

Art and an affectionate joke poster made up for the Red River Fighter Pilots meeting in Dec '67.  The same poster is seen on one of the floats on my photos page.

A two ship landing by our hosts.  The present day Thai Air Force has kept up with the most modern equipment and has a strong and proud military tradition.  Cheers for our hosts!

Today Art is a warrior of another type, but still flying.  He pilots several types of aircraft seen in this photo for Agape, in support of missionary efforts in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and just recently Cuba - flying the Caribbean on a weekly basis.

A current photo of Art.  Many thanks for your contributions, they are indeed unique.  Art is proud of his work for the ministry and preaches himself on occasion.  May you always fly safely and in good health, Art!
