Flew Weasels with 357th, '67 - 68. Takhli was a paradise
then compared to May '72 when we had to re-open it. Place
had been stripped, and even had to chase a cobra out of
Wing HQ (or was it a former commander?).

I seek information on anyone who has served in Takali or Thailand and
has contacted cancer. My Dad's claim for benefits as a service
connection of death was denied. They claim they had to serve in
Vietnam, however, some have claimed Agent Orange connection/exposure
while serving in Thailand. Our rebuttal/appeal must be completed in 3
weeks.
My Dad served as line chief from Jan.'67- Jan'68.in Takali and was
affiliated more with the B66.
Appreciate any help from those who have walked in my Dad' shoes.

I served in the 355 TFS, 355th A&E from November 1962 at George AFB, (We had two Planes then) until September 1965 at McConnel AFB. The last I heard from anyone in the 355 was a call Thanksgiving eve, 1965 from a friend at at Hamalton saying a lot of my friends were with him. I wonder if they are still out there somewhere. I spent the first year At George waiting on planes. Every now and then a Lead Slead as they were known then would drop in. Most of us had never touched anything but a simulator at Lowary. The next year I was at the peaking (nose) docks then at Wichita I was in the shop working on Cat II equipment. By the way, Lowary is gone, The baracks are torn down and it is an industiral complex now.

This web site is wonderful, thanks to all who put it together and to all of you that served in Tiland.

I was at Takhli only about a month in 1970. We closed the base and went to Korat with our B-66's, and there I finished out my tour. I don't remember a lot about Takhli, but the memories of the planes and views make my day.
I just want to say, thank you for your efforts. I salute you guys.

I am looking for people who may have served with my uncle, Captain Merwin "Mel" Morrill in the 355 TFW at Takhli in 67. Captain Morrill and his wingman Lt. Lynn Powell were killed in action on a strike of the rail yards outside Hanoi on 21 August, 1967.

Captain Morrill was one of two brothers killed in action in 1967. His older brother Major David W. Morrill, USMC is my father and was killed in action on 18 March, 1967 while on a close air support mission of Marine ground troops in Quang Tri, SVN. I am looking for information for an article I hope to write on Mel and David.

look -- Thai restaurants everywhere in US! Thai iced tea or

Sawadee! Great, great site and it's much appreciated. What memories! I was stationed at Takhli from June '68-June '69, arriving from McConnel AFD in Wichita, KS. Previously spent a long year-and-a-half in Incirlik, Turkey. While at Takhli, I worked in the post office (C.M.R.) and my last 9 months was with the 355 Base Supply Squadron. I was a 70251. Don't remember much other than the rice bugs, snakes, bars, cheap jewelry, and a few USO shows. Takhli was a paradise compared to Turkey! And the Thais were fantastic and friendly people. While working in the C.M.R. I remember having to write "Deceased" on letters for the some of the pilots who didn't make it. Very, very sad and unbelievable.

Mar '73- Mar '74. Mobile photo recon (all F-111 pilots dropped
strike film to us for processing. Between Logistics (and
snack bar) and debrief, next to flightline. Apologies to any
of you "lifers" who may have been offended by my latrine
grafitti (hey! i was only 21 or 22). It was a fine/terrible
life.
Lived at compound just a mile or so from main entrance for
a while then into town. Have many pix (mostly in slide form
but some B&W) of takhli town life. Usually had a joint under
my hat (which only one of the officers I ever delivered film
to req'd me to take off, too much hair, so had me put it back
on- made other officers laugh pretty hard).
Thanks for this site - just entered takhli into dogpile (one

I was stationed at Takhli from Febuary 67 to Febuary 68.
I do have slides of many things around the base and the city of Takhli. Especially the open air market.

Bob, Thanks for signing my guestbook, you've got a great page, lots of information. I was a US Army truckdriver with the 519th Transportation Battalion, and made a few trips from Sattahip to Takhli. Also went back over 5 years ago, and was very close to the base.

I'd like to invite your guests to visit our transporters website, and the TLC Brotherhood website http://tlc-brotherhood.org I'm sure there are lots of us around who many of you guys may recognize.

Another site that made me feel good, Viet-REMF made me feel as though we did something in "Rolling Thunder" just because we were not "in-country" Our Thuds did their job! Thanks for letting others know what our pilots did. I hope I hear some more good news from your site. Good work.

I was a 20 year old A1C when I arrived at Takhli in May 1968. My year was spent with the 556 Civil Engineering Red Horse Squadron , det 2., and I have many fond memories of that time. My friends, bless you all, wherever you are.
I made many thai friends and think of them often too.
we built a small hospital while I was there, several barracks, officers hootches, CBPO and many, many revetments for the 105's. All Thud Pilots, EB 66 pilots. F111 pilots, you are all my heroes to this day. And to everyone else who supported these gallant men, I salute you.
I am looking for a Sgt Hank Lipka, a Photo guy from the 601st.
Does anyne remember the Florida Restaurant at the south end of Takhli City?
